4 tips for avoiding car crashes

There are a few things that every motorist needs to do in order to avoid getting into a serious car accident, but not all of them are entirely obvious. For this reason, we would like to share the following four pieces of advice with all Alabama drivers. If Alabama motorists only followed these recommendations, numerous lives would be saved and a lot of catastrophic injuries would be avoided.

First, avoid driving in the fast lane. The reason for this is because drivers who don’t drive in the fast lane will have more ways to escape accidents by moving into the left lane or driving onto the shoulder. In fact, statistics show that the majority of crashes occur in the fast lane.

Second, maintain your hands at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions on the steering wheel. This position has been shown to help drivers with vehicle control when they need to quickly maneuver and avoid obstacles.

Third, position your seat in a way that you can put your wrist on the steering wheel, rather than being so far away that you’re only controlling the wheel with your fingers. Like the above recommendation, this will also help you have better control of your vehicle in a pinch.

Fourth, learn how race car drivers drive. Some drivers might see this as a novelty, but learning race car driving techniques at a high-performance driving academy is an excellent way to improve your skills and safety as a driver.

If, in spite of you and your family’s best efforts to drive safely, you or one of your loved ones gets into a serious car accident, financial help might be available through filing a personal injury claim. A personal injury claim that is successfully navigated could bring those hurt by negligent drivers money to pay for medical care and other costs stemming from their accidents.
