12-year-old dead after tragic car accident

A 12-year-old was killed following a tragic accident last week. The young girl passed away from injuries after a single-vehicle car accident in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 10 miles outside of Northport.

According to Alabama State Troopers, the girl was riding as a passenger in a 2003 Nissan Xterra at approximately 8:10 p.m. in the evening. The 34-year-old male driver of the Xterra lost control of the vehicle, which caused the Xterra to leave the roadway and crash into several trees.

Although emergency responders reported to the scene and rushed the catastrophically injured girl to the hospital for treatment, doctors were unable to save her and she was pronounced dead not long after arriving at Birmingham's Children's Hospital.

In addition to the fatally injured girl, three more people also suffered injuries in the car accident; however, the extent of those injuries has yet to be reported. The 34-year-old driver from Northport escaped unharmed. As of last reports, Alabama troopers were still investigating how this accident may have occurred. As such, it is unknown how the driver may be charged regarding this accident.

As with any Alabama car crash that involves catastrophic injuries and death, the victims left behind by the tragedy will want answers. Those victims not only include the passengers in the vehicle who were seriously hurt, but they also include the family members who lost their loved ones in the crash. If police identify an at-fault party (or parties) in a car accident, family members of the deceased victims, and injured parties, may have the ability to seek financial compensation from those at fault for the crash.
