A woman, who authorities say was operating her vehicle in a mentally altered state, has been arrested for causing multiple accidents that injured four people in Foley, Alabama, last Sunday. Police say that they were first notified of the accident at around 1:00 p.m., when they received multiple calls about an out-of-control driver traveling northbound down Highway 59.
The woman, operating a black Chevrolet Silverado, first crashed into the back of a vehicle at County Road 12. Then, after continuing toward County Road 20, she hit the side of a semi-truck. Next, after fleeing the scene of the second accident, she struck a Chevrolet Astro Van and fled the scene again. Next, after turning onto County Road 20, she hit another Chevrolet. Finally, she slammed head-on into a Hyundai Santa Fe.
In the final accident, three people suffered serious injuries. One was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and the two others were airlifted to the hospital. The female driver who caused all this the mayhem also needed to be transported to the hospital by ambulance. Fortunately, authorities report that all of the injured will survive.
Alabama State Troopers and the Foley Police Department are continuing to investigate the accidents. At this time, authorities believe that the woman who caused the crashes was operating her vehicle while in an “altered mental state.” It is unknown what kind of altered state she may have been subjected to.
Alabama residents who are catastrophically injured in a serious car accident will face steep medical bills, and they will also be forced to spend a lot of time unable to work while recovering from their injuries. As such, those who are seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash may want to seek financial compensation from the party or parties responsible for causing their injuries.
